| Big Machines to Study Molecules | Sun, Oct 25, 5:30 AM UTC | Lecture Hall, Science Gallery Bengaluru, Bengaluru | 3my4uu2d52222 | Curator | How does quantum physics help big machines unravel the mysteries of life? Life is organised in a hierarchy, from atoms and molecules to organelles, cells, tissues, organs, populations, ecosystems, and ultimately the biosphere. At the heart of this intricate organisation lie molecules, whose structures, interactions, and changes shape the evolution of organisms and influence health and disease. Yet, understanding these tiny building blocks of life is no small feat. It requires extraordinarily sophisticated scientific instruments, some of which are so large that they span hundreds of meters or even kilometres. In this lecture, Vinoth will explore how these large scientific machines, relying on quantum physics, reveal the molecular processes that sustain life and influence health and disease. | |||

Picasso was creative. Beethoven was creative. Van Gogh was creative. But what about the person who first picked up a piece of charcoal and scribbled on the wall of a cave, hoping the people in the next cave would get the message? Or the bowerbird who spends an entire season collecting blue bottle caps and flowers to decorate a little stage for a mate? And what about a fungus? This one is literally brainless, yet it sends out electrical signals that, when connected to a synthesizer, play out like music. So if creativity shows up in organisms without brains, it is far older than us, isn't it? That's the question we'll sit with over coffee: where creativity really begins on the tree of life, and what that means for those of us who have spent years saying "I'm just not the creative type."Along the way, you'll hear a mushroom play music, and you'll make something that is deliberately, wonderfully bad. You don't need any science background to join in.Just come, grab a coffee, and let's get some creativity brewing. Because, tell you what, I'm not sure a creative life is a happier one. But I'm pretty sure it's a far more meaningful one.About the Speaker:Bitasta Datta is a microbiologist by training, an educator by profession and a science storyteller by passion. For over 10 years, she has been turning science into stories for school learners and curious adults. She started at the National Digital Library of India, went on to co-found The Synapse, led curriculum and learning experience design at BYJU'S and Tutopiya, and tinkers with content at Khan Academy.

| Kartik in Cosmic Chaos - Book Signing | Sun, Oct 25, 6:30 AM UTC | Atta Galatta, Bengaluru | 3my4y77canr22 | Curator | Join us for the book signing of Kartik in Cosmic Chaos with the author Jigyasa. About the book: Kartik’s journey through space begins as an adventure but slowly becomes a quiet challenge to everything he believes about intelligence, emotion, and life. As he encounters alien worlds and unfamiliar minds, he is forced to rethink his deeply human way of seeing the universe. Guided by curiosity as much as confusion, Kartik moves through strange planets, unexpected friendships, and encounters that are at once funny, unsettling, and deeply humane. Science runs through the stories like a living thread, shaping a future that feels imaginative yet strangely possible. Witty, warm, and thought-provoking, these futuristic short stories invite readers to laugh, wonder, and question what it truly means to understand another being—even one that is alien. Written for readers aged 12 and above. About the author: Jigyasa studied Neuroscience at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, before finding her way into science writing—and eventually fiction. A freelance science writer for over a decade, she blends scientific insight with imagination. Her literary work has appeared in The Hindu and the literary magazine Muse India. | |||

| Japanese Ensemble: From Traditional to Modern | Thu, Nov 12, 2:30 AM UTC | Imig Music, Boulder, CO | 3my55npm7t222 | Curator | Our Japanese Ensemble is dedicated to hands-on learning of music and dance from many regions of Japan. Japanese music is typically based on songs that reflect styles of Japanese poetry sung in lines of five or seven syllables. Song lyrics evoke images of landscapes, seasons, weather, animals and legendary figures of Japan to illustrate Shinto religious ideals of harmony between the gods and human beings in nature—as well as Buddhist themes of the transient nature of existence in this world. Traditional instruments studied by the group include the shamisen (three-string, plucked lute), shinobue (transverse bamboo folk flute) and taiko (double-headed, barrel-shaped, stick-struck drums of various sizes). | The Gathering Room II - Support group | Sun, Oct 25, 8:30 AM UTC | Atta Galatta, Bengaluru | 3my56vxydzw22 | Curator | Last month, a room full of people who'd never met sat in a circle, and by the end of the afternoon, a simple dupatta had carried more than any of us expected it to. Some people spoke. Some didn't say a word. Almost everyone left a little lighter than they came in. We're doing it again. Divorce and separation don't end when the papers do. There's the decision itself. The legal process. And then everything after: the parenting schedule you're still figuring out, the money you're untangling, the boundaries you're learning to hold, often alone. Somewhere along the way, a story tends to settle in. That this is a failure. That it has to get ugly. That there's a "right" way to grieve, or a deadline for moving on. This session starts from a different place: a relationship changing shape isn't a verdict on who you are, and it doesn't have to look like a battle to be real. Whether you were with us last month or this is your first time, there's a seat for you. Mid-decision, past it, or still finding your way in. The Format This isn't a talk or a lecture. Expect some movement, a few structured activities in pairs or as a full group, and room throughout to simply notice where you are. No scripts, no performance. You don't need to prepare anything. What to Expect Arrival Come in when you're ready. No forms, no forced small talk, no explanations owed. Opening Circle Seema, a Certified Psychodrama Practitioner, who facilitates the session, will say hello and walk you through how the afternoon unfolds. If you'd like to share a word about why you're here, you can. If you'd rather listen, that's just as welcome. The Heart of the Session The main part of the afternoon: movement, a few activities in pairs or as a group, and quieter moments in between to check in with yourself. Nobody will ask you to talk if you don't want to. Nobody will ask you to perform. Coming Back Together Before we close, we'll gather as a full group to sit with whatever came up. A reflection or a small gesture is welcome. So is silence. Closing You might leave with a bit more clarity. You might leave without saying a single word and still feel a little less alone. Both count. Each gathering builds on the last. Familiar faces make the room feel safer, and new ones remind everyone they're not the only ones going through this. Whether you were here in September or you're coming for the first time, there's a seat saved for you. When: Sunday, October 25, 2 to 4 PM Seats are limited and need to be booked in advance. What's not included Any item from the bookstore or café | |||

| Kundalini Activation Process (KAP) Open Class in Guildford | Sun, Dec 20, 2:00 PM UTC | Merrow Village Hall, Epsom Road, Guildford, UK | 3my5drmg53o22 | Curator | # Rest. Receive. Reconnect. **Kundalini Activation Process (KAP) Guildford** What happens when you stop trying to fix yourself for a while? When you put your phone away, lie down, close your eyes, and simply allow yourself to be? This KAP (Kundalini Activation Process) session is an invitation to step out of the busyness of everyday life and into a space of deep rest, presence and possibility. There is nothing to learn, nothing to achieve, and no experience you need to have. You don't need to know how energy works, or even believe in it. Just come as you are. ### What is KAP? KAP is a gentle, receptive practice based on the transmission of life force energy. As you relax with your eyes closed, music creates a supportive atmosphere while I move around the room, offering light touch where appropriate to support the energetic process. Rather than trying to make something happen, KAP invites you to trust your body's own wisdom. Every session is different because every person is different. Some people experience deep stillness or relaxation. Others notice emotion moving through them, spontaneous body movement, laughter, tears, inner visions, or a feeling of spaciousness and connection. Sometimes the experience is very subtle. Whatever arises, you're encouraged to meet it with curiosity rather than expectation. ### A Space to Come Home to Yourself Many people are drawn to KAP because they long to slow down. To feel more connected. To quiet the constant thinking. To reconnect with their intuition. To spend time in a space where nothing is expected of them. Whether you're navigating change, feeling stuck, exploring your spiritual path, or simply curious about energy work, you're warmly welcome. ### About Me I'm Phillippa Gail, a certified KAP Level 2 Facilitator trained by KAP founder Venant Wong. Creating spaces where people feel safe, seen and able to explore their own inner experience is at the heart of my work. My role isn't to tell you what your experience should be, but to hold a supportive environment where your own process can unfold naturally. _"For me, KAP is one of the few practices where nothing is asked of you except your willingness to lie down, breathe, and be open to whatever your body and nervous system are ready for. It's a simple practice, but it can be deeply moving."_ ### Practical Information **Merrow Village Hall** 177 Epsom Road Guildford GU1 2QY Free parking available. Please bring: A yoga mat A blanket and cushion for comfort Loose, comfortable clothing Water It's best to eat only a light meal beforehand. ### A Note on Wellbeing KAP isn't suitable for everyone. It isn't recommended for people who are currently experiencing, or are prone to, mania, delusion or psychosis. If you have any questions about whether this practice is right for you, please feel free to get in touch before booking. If this gathering resonates with you, I'd love to welcome you. Come exactly as you are, and allow yourself the space to rest, receive and reconnect. Join David and Sarasi from the Curatorial Team, for a walkthrough where we walk you through our experience of learning about quantum physics, but purely through memes. We invite you to look up from the doom scroll and towards our exhibition. Don't be scared of the big terms and symbols, pick up some fun facts along the way! | |||

| Mycelium and Muse - Interactive Science Class | Sun, Oct 25, 5:30 AM UTC | 21, 80 Feet Rd, Nirguna Mandir Layout, 4th Block, Koramangala, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560034, India, Bengaluru | 3my4uu3cnpr22 | Curator | We often equate creativity with making art. | |||

That’s code for, I use visual design to tell stories, make ideas easier to understand, and hopefully spark a little curiosity along the way. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit my work at the Lalit Kala Akademi, spend a brief minute teaching at Tapmi, Manipal, NID (National Institute of Design), and work alongside farming communities to help bring their stories to urban audiences. I tend to think of design not just as something that looks aesthetic, but also as a tool for social impact. Befizuli sawaal is an extension of that belief. What's BEFIZULI SAWAAL MAG?
