"description": "**THE BODY IN THE ROOM**\n\n**Introduction to Somatic Awareness and Movement as Resource in the Therapeutic Practice **\n\nA Somatic CPD Day for Helping Professionals\n\nWe are not simply brains sitting in front of our clients. We meet one another through our whole selves: body, mind, emotions and presence.\n\n_What happens when we pay attention not only to what the client says, but to what is happening in their body, our body, and between us?_\n\nOur bodies are constantly communicating, often beyond words. As therapists, counsellors or coaches, developing greater awareness of our own bodily experience can deepen our capacity to listen, attune and respond to what is happening in the room.\n\nThis experiential CPD day invites you to explore embodiment, felt sense and somatic awareness as resources for both your personal wellbeing and your professional practice.\n\nDrawing on conscious movement, dance, grounding, breath and embodied awareness, we will explore how our bodies can provide valuable information about ourselves, our clients and the relationship between us.\n\n* * *\n\n_ **What will we explore?** _\n\nOur body can register subtle shifts in emotion, tension and energy before we are consciously aware of them. By developing our capacity to notice and pay attention, we can become more attuned to our own internal experience and to the relational dynamics unfolding in the therapeutic space. This in turn can support our capacity for healthy levels of empathy.\n\nThroughout the day, we will explore:\n\n- **Deep resourcing through movement** : using dance, breath and grounding to support nervous system regulation and vitality.\n- **Developing our felt sense** : learning to notice and stay curious about bodily sensations, impulses and shifts in our internal experience.\n- **Self in relation to other** : noticing the subtle “dance” between practitioner and client, including moments when we may be more receptive or active.\n- **Awareness of edges and boundaries** : exploring what it means to hold space for another person while remaining grounded, present and connected to ourselves.\n- **Movement and emotional expression** : experiencing guided movement as ways of accessing what words alone don’t express.\n\nThe day will combine experiential practices through movement and dance, individual reflection and group discussion, with opportunities to connect the learning directly to your work with your clients\n\n* * *\n\n_ **Learning outcomes:** _\n\nBy the end of the day, we are aiming for the participants to have:\n\n- Experienced a range of movement and somatic practices that can support awareness and resourcing.\n- Developed greater awareness of their own felt sense and bodily responses.\n- Explored how embodied awareness can support attunement, presence and relational work with clients.\n- Had an opportunity to integrate their experience through self-reflection, inquiry and group discussion.\n- Considered ways of bringing greater embodied awareness into their professional practice.\n\n**CPD 5.5 CPD hours – A Certificate of Attendance will be issued** \n\n* * *\n\n**Who is this for?**\n\nThis experiential CPD day is suitable for psychotherapists, counsellors, coaches and other helping professionals who are curious about bringing greater awareness of the body into their personal and professional practice.\n\nWe will move and dance at times. But no previous experience is required. The emphasis is not on learning particular movements, but on developing curiosity, awareness and connection with your own embodied experience.\n\n**Practical details**\n\nDecember 6th 2026- from 10.30am to 5pm \nCCPE- The Universal Room - 2 Warwick Crescent, London, W2 6NE - Tube Warwick avenue\n\nThe day is experiential. You are encouraged to work at your own pace and within your own boundaries.\n\nFee: £115 for the day - Maximum 12 participants \n\nAny questions? Feel free to schedule a phone conversation with me on 07719154902.\n\n**Feedback from past workshops (anonymous):**\n\n“I would like to thank you very much for such an expanding and restorative Movement Workshop yesterday. It was highly creative and such an enriching experience with the group.”\n\n“A sincere thank you for such an enriching and restorative workshop. It was very special and even more powerful for being a small group.”\n\n“All was absolutely new and I did not know what to expect. This was a wonderful experience.\"\n\n \n\n**Led by Muriel Bauer**\n\nTranspersonal + Integrative Psychotherapist · Coach · Movement Medicine® Teacher - UKCP, BACP, EMCC, ICF, ICMTA\n\nFully trained at CCPE, Muriel is an integrative and transpersonal psychotherapist with 20 years of experience working with adults all over the world. Deeply aware of the interplay between our thoughts, feelings and sensations, Muriel has embarked on a personal exploration of dance and movement as a healing process. This has led her to train as a Movement Medicine® teacher and to study with multiple teachers and healers.\n\nShe offers conscious movement rooted in indigenous wisdom and a deep trust in the body's intelligence. Her work brings psychotherapy and movement together into spaces where practitioners can reconnect with their inner wisdom and remember what drew them to this work in the first place.
