"description": "Do you know where rava idli was invented, or which lake birds from far away return to every year? In this interactive session, children work together to build a map of the city on the floor until they can walk through a miniature Bengaluru inside the room itself! With maps on our phones, we have grown used to looking at a screen instead of looking around, and we miss the stories beneath our feet: which trees bloom on our street, how our neighbourhood got its name. The game asks children to match image-based clues with factual prompts, slowly bringing the city together piece by piece. The clues move between the hidden and the familiar with some drawn from history, others from everyday sights, sounds, and stories: foods, festivals, lakes, trees, and migrating birds. In celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava, this game invites children to widen their eyes and sharpen their senses to find pride, joy, and belonging in the city they call home. Please Note: Each session is for 30 minutes, limited to 10 children. There are only 5 sessions through the day. You must RSVP to a specific session to participate. “Elli, Ekke, Ennu,” was created with the support of the Bachpan Manao Foundation for Makkala Hubba Bengaluru. Around the World in 50 Sundays is a journey that begins, not with a ticket, but with opening a book. In a city like Bangalore where families are always in motion, the BIC Library hopes to offer stillness and a quiet, welcoming space for both parents and children where reading becomes a shared experience. Every Sunday, we open our doors to invite you into a library that listens; building a rhythm of return, a habit of joy and a new community bound not just by books, but by the weekly ritual of reading together. We welcome your ideas and input. If you have suggestions for children’s events or activities that align with this vision, we’d love to hear from you.
