"description": "Abel Korinskyhas been working on interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of art, science, technology, and space since 2012. His artistic practice is situated within the field of time-based media, combining sound, algorithmic systems, spatial staging, real-time processes, and immersive audiovisual environments—usually rooted in a scientific context and addressing societal questions.During his residency atThe Indian Sonic Research Organisation, Korinsky explored the sonic “heritage” of Bangalore, identifying the residues of sounds around us as the city’s sonic landscape shifts.Ultrasonic Reflectionsis a work in progress that takes ambisonic and field recordings from Bangalore and transforms them into a spatial sonic experience. A 16-channel audio system creates the main musical and atmospheric layer, surrounding the audience with sounds caught from the city. The recordings are transformed until their original sources are hardly recognisable, while still reflecting the atmosphere, intensity, and contrasts that he experienced during his stay in Bangalore.A second element introduces an ultrasonic loudspeaker into the installation. Unlike conventional loudspeakers, it produces a highly directional and narrow beam of sound. This beam is directed towards a wooden plate suspended in the space, which visitors can move and rotate. The work uses the physical principle that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. By changing the position of the plate, visitors change the direction in which the sound travels. It can be reflected onto different walls, sent across the room, or directed towards individual members of the audience. Sound therefore becomes almost physical: something that can be redirected, moved, and explored within the architecture. This creates a second sonic layer consisting of quieter and often overlooked sounds of Bangalore: birds, water, vegetation, and other fragments that can easily disappear within the density and noise of the city. These sounds travel through the space, appear unexpectedly, and disappear again depending on the position of the reflective surface.Friday, October 16, 8:00 pm onwardsThe Indian Sonic Research OrganisationEntry free.
