"description": "# Touch As Medicine\n\n**Time:** Saturday, 6:30pm-9:45pm \n**Location:** The Forge, Collins Rd., Totnes\n\nFollow us on WhatsApp to stay up to date https://chat.whatsapp.com/J1IAwwDfHvaAjbyHdjflPO\n\n \n\n### 👐 _Touch is not just sensation. It is communication. It is memory. It is medicine._ 👐\n\n#### \n\n### Your skin has stories.\n\nYour body holds everything you’ve ever been through—the love, the loss, the longing. \nIt remembers the touch that felt like home. \nIt remembers the touch that made you shrink.\n\nMaybe you’ve learned to **disconnect** —to armour yourself, to numb, to go through the motions without truly feeling. \nMaybe you crave **contact that feels safe, nourishing, deeply seen** —without expectation, without performance, without taking more than is given. \nMaybe you long to be touched **the way your soul aches to be held.**\n\nMost of us have been touched without presence. Without true consent. Without reverence.\n\nThis is something different.\n\n<oembed url=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU_DWylCtF4\"></oembed>\n\n<oembed url=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY-wYyZaSJw&list=PL5xZhEyooCkSlyhzpOTU__9NYspczbrpk&index=15\"></oembed>\n\n \n\n### **What to Expect**\n\nWe begin in stillness. Each person in their own space, hands finding their own skin, attention poured into fingertips — noticing texture, warmth, the simple miracle of being embodied. Slowly, music rises. Bodies begin to move — rolling, stretching, following sensation wherever it leads.\n\nAnd when the moment is ripe, an invitation: reach out just a fingertip, and see if it wants to meet another.\n\nFrom there, the journey unfolds gradually — fingertips, hands, arms, backs, whole bodies — layer by layer, always at your own pace, always by your own choice. A simple spatial language and simple consent cues guide the space throughout, so that seeking connection or choosing solitude requires no words and no awkward negotiation. Like a cat, you move toward what nourishes you and away from what doesn't — no explanation needed, no feelings to manage.\n\nBy the end, the music softens, guidance falls away, and the group finds its own natural rest.\n\nThis is a sensual space, not a sexual one — and that distinction matters. What becomes available when the seeking mind is given permission to rest is something rare: the particular medicine of being held without agenda, touched without transaction, met without performance. A bath of oxytocin. A genuine drop into belonging.\n\n* * *\n\n### \n\n### **What to Bring**\n\n- A yoga mat\n- A water bottle\n- Comfortable clothing for moving and touching\n\n* * *\n\n \n\n### **This workshop is for you if:**\n\nYou long for physical contact that actually nourishes.\n\nYou want to explore conscious, consensual touch in a space that is safe and clearly held.\n\nYou are curious about Temple Arts or sacred sexuality spaces and want to develop the foundational skills to enter them with confidence\n\nOr you simply sense that your relationship with touch — giving or receiving — could use some attention.\n\nNo prior experience needed. All genders, orientations, and relationship styles welcome.\n\n* * *\n\n \n\n> ❝ An intimate space to explore boundaries, and make sense of our own needs in an environment that welcomes connection with ourselves and others. It held space to reflect on how we interpret touch, feelings that arise with it and how we can advocate for ourselves and each other with consent and communication.\n> \n> I was smiling for days, and left proud of myself that I was apart of something that pushed me slightly out of my comfort zone, but felt much better for it, whilst being alongside others who are also on their own journeys. ❞\n> \n> - Chloe (Participant April 2025)\n\n> ❝ Joy and Shiva created an extremely wholesome evening of group plutonic caring, explorative touch. They held the space very well, making me feel very safe and comfortable to explore my edges. The music and guidance from Joy was complimented by Shiva's physical guidance and it transcended into a melting puddle of plutonic sensual touch where I felt extreme gratitude and care. It was an amazing evening for me! Thank you Joy & Shiva! ❞\n> \n> - Patch (Participant April 2025)\n\n> ❝ _I genuinely think this is what should be taught in schools. If we gave more emphasis on boundaries, and understanding of our right to say no or pull away. As well as our freedom to lean in and offer and receive gentle and loving touch, I honestly believe that our societies would be more healthy and who knows… Maybe we could even eradicate war._ ❞\n> \n> - Chris Bullzini, high-wire walker and mystic Clown (Participant July 2025)\n\n> ❝ Touch as Medicine facilitates the co-creation of sensual & open connection & togetherness, through ritual, meditation, movement, dance & ecstatic play.❞\n> \n> - Falcon (Participant Dec 2025)\n\n* * *\n\n \n\nCome explore the healing power of touch. Come find out what becomes possible when presence, consent, and reverence are the only rules.",
