From **Mary Shelley and the gothic imagination** to Thanet’s island past, forgotten histories, strange characters and the places where folklore, landscape and the supernatural meet.\n\nThis isn't just a walk more as it’s an invitation to look at Thanet differently. We’ll uncover some of the hidden stories embedded in the coastline, share tales of the people and places that have shaped its strange atmosphere, and consider why this little corner of England has attracted artists, outsiders, seekers and the spiritually curious for centuries.\n\nAnd when we reach Margate, we’ll **close the circle at FLINTS with a closing ceremony** , bringing our journey to an appropriately magical end.\n\n**Note: ** While we love your dog, in order to maintain everyone’s safety and comfort on the trail, our hikes are dog-free. If your dog is a registered Emotional Support Animal with an accompanying letter from a mental health professional, please email us at info@girlhike.world and we can chat further.\n\n### What to expect\n\nThe walk runs from **11am to 3pm** , so please expect to spend several hours outdoors. We walk **rain or shine** — the only time we cancel a hike is if the **Met Office issues a weather warning**.\n\nThe weather can be variable at this time of year, so we recommend bringing:\n\n- **Layers** , ideally packed in a backpack so you can add or remove them as needed\n- **Waterproofs** , if you have them\n- **Shoes or hiking boots with a good tread**\n- **Water**\n- **A small snack** to keep you going along the way\n- **Please no dogs**\n\nThere’ll be a **tea stop at FLINTS at the end of the hike** , so you won’t need to carry a thermos unless you’d like to.\n\nWhether you’ve lived in Thanet for years or you’re visiting for the weekend, come and discover some of the esoteric history that makes this isle such a fascinating, mysterious and downright magical place.\n\n### TWO GUIDES. Stay for the stories! **Leave with a little more magic in your relationship with the coast.**\n\n🌊 **SEASIDE GOTHIC STROLL** \n🕯️ **Part of Samhain Society’s Dead Good Festival** \n🥾 **Broadstairs → Margate** \n🔮 **History · Gothic · Folklore · Esotericism · Ritual**\n\n**The circle is waiting.**\n\n[**@wearegirlhike**](https://www.instagram.com/wearegirlhike/)\n\nYou can read [our ticket terms and conditions](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZSdrUX0V00eRRVd_brA3aKdIZYJ0307f5qk2icIuSdE/edit?tab=t.0) here. \n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/22/17/07/17/a08a402c-6621-4b60-b570-23aaacdeb9f0/82ea8293-2d05-4443-9b71-d9e97847d853.jpeg)\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/22/17/07/29/30df8432-5eea-4109-9c7c-369bd96f257d/5d1c371d-fa3b-420a-a509-e36b77e570f4.jpeg)\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/22/17/07/37/eae5bc44-f9c0-4179-95b5-9060f6afd666/bc52d114-e2ba-4399-9ce4-b2b8232caf90.jpeg)",
