With authors Elizabeth Sulis Kim and Tree Carr to guide us, we’ll meet twelve emblematic animals from Elizabeth’s newly published book that can restore our relationship with the natural world.\n\nSteeped in folklore, mythology, magic and religion, _The Book of Beasts_ tells the story of our shapeshifting relationships with animals, from reverence to persecution, friendship to fear, awe to indifference. It asks us what we actually know about the creatures we share this world with – and offers us a different way of living together.\n\nThe conversation will set a course across the globe and through time, from our deep past into the future, bringing together the animals which have captivated us for millennia.\n\nThere will be an opportunity for audience questions, and an interval for buying signed copies of Elizabeth’s book\n\n### **MEET THE AUTHOR**\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/22/13/53/46/a30b4a81-0282-43b5-b7a2-f9aa52a3c14c/a153ae36-21d1-47c5-b564-cce61460b4d1.jpeg)\n\n### ELIZABETH SULIS KIM\n\nElizabeth Sulis Kim has written for publications including _Mslexia_, _Ambit_, _Fiddler's Green_, _Hellebore_, _BBC Culture, The Guardian,_ and _The Independent. _ \n\nIn 2020, her novel was shortlisted for Penguin’s #WriteNow. Not the witch of the crystal shop cliché. Not the sanitised, Instagram-friendly version of witchcraft.\n\nWe mean **real, living witches** — people who practise, question, challenge, create, organise and navigate the world through a magical lens.\n\nJoin us and our panel of practising witches as they explore the relationship between **witchcraft and activism**.\n\nWe’ll talk about **systemic misogyny, patriarchy, capitalism, colonialism, queer liberation, racism, marginalisation and oppression** — and ask what it means to use witchcraft not simply as a spiritual practice, but as a way of understanding, challenging and resisting the systems around us.\n\nWe'll explore questions like:\n\nWhy has the witch historically been so threatening?\n\nIs witchcraft inherently political?\n\nWhat can witch persecution teach us about marginalisation today?\n\nHow can magical practice build community, resilience and resistance?\n\n**Ultimately: what kind of world are witches trying to create?**\n\n You can read [our ticket terms and conditions](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZSdrUX0V00eRRVd_brA3aKdIZYJ0307f5qk2icIuSdE/edit?tab=t.0) here. \n\n### **MEET THE WITCHES**\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/22/13/54/18/a142a1c6-cf79-4047-9629-6d54ab057058/a338f0c7-cfa6-4940-8091-ed64ee7643db.jpeg)\n\n### TREE CARR\n\nTree Carr is a High Priestess Witch, ritualist, dreamworker, Death Doula, transpersonal psychology practitioner and author.
