You turn up, the music starts, and you move however feels right to you.\n\nI run Ecstatic Dance events across Sussex, and this is the first one at The Stade. If you’ve never tried it, this is a good place to start. \n \n \n\n### **What is Ecstatic Dance?**\n\nIt’s a dance night where you are free to move as you like. You can go wild, sway gently in the corner, or sit one out and watch for a while. Some people come for a great night out, some for the movement, and most get a bit of both. There’s no alcohol, no talking on the dance floor, and phones stay away! That way we can all be present enjoying the music together.\n\nYou don’t need to bring anyone. Plenty of people come alone and leave having had a really good time.\n\n \n\n### **What to expect**\n\nWe start with a 30 minute warm up while everyone arrives, then we have a short opening circle to briefly meet each other and so we all know what’s going on. Then the music takes us on a journey: slow and spacious at first, building into big, energetic dancing, then easing back down to a calm finish. Expect a variety, from world sounds, electronica and deep grooves. There are optional moments to dance solo, in pairs or in small groups, and you’re free to skip any of them. We finish with a closing circle.\n\nIf you’d like to hear what it sounds like, my ecstatic dance mixes are at mixcloud.com/DJ\\_Estavia/ \n\n### \n\n### **Who’s running it**\n\nI’m Steve, known as DJ Estavia. I’ve been doing conscious movement practice for over 25 years, including 5Rhythms and Movement Medicine, and I’m trained as an ecstatic dance facilitator. I’ve run events across Sussex and in Portugal, Wales and Greece. I try to make the room feel welcoming for everyone, including first-timers.\n\n> “What a beautiful evening of dance, connection and release. The venue was so beautiful, Steve was a great facilitator and DJ, and the overall effect was a space that felt safe, welcoming, intimate. Can’t wait to come again!” Lucia, Lewes Ecstatic Dance\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/10/14/15/10/27/9af45a42-63e1-49de-ab08-6bbd2c642551/Steve at Unity-72 final-2 Edit for warmth.JPG)\n\n### **Who is it for?**\n\nEveryone. All ages, all bodies, any level of dance experience, including none.
