Classes introduce us to new ideas and movements, but it is through practice that we integrate them into our dancing, develop our musicality and begin to explore the dance more fully.\n\nThe práctica gives us the time and space to experiment, make mistakes and discover our own dancing.\n\nThe studio has a large mirror and dance barres, suitable for individual practice — working on adornments, posture and technique — as well as partner practice.\n\nSome weeks guidance will be available from a **teacher or designated experienced dancer**. Other weeks the práctica will be unguided.\n\n### Coming Alone or With a Partner\n\nYou are equally welcome to practise alone or with a partner. Those coming with a partner may wish to practise exclusively together, while others may be happy to practise with different dancers.\n\n**The práctica guarantees a space to practise, not a dance partner.** Please respect how others choose to use the space.\n\nDon't be shy about asking someone if they'd like to practise a particular aspect of their dancing with you, and don't take it personally if they decline. **Being free to invite, and equally free to decline, is a key aspect of consent.**\n\nWe are an **LGBTQ+ inclusive, gender-fluid dance space**. Leading and following are not assigned according to gender. We encourage everyone to explore both roles, while respecting each dancer's choice to focus on one.\n\n### Etiquette & Code of Conduct\n\nConsent, respecting other dancers' practice, and understanding the difference between practising together and teaching are central to our ethos.\n\n**As part of your booking, please complete the Práctica Etiquette & Code of Conduct questions** , confirming that you understand and agree to the principles of our practice space.\n\n**IMPORTANT: After booking, please email** [**hello@closeembrace.com**](mailto:hello@closeembrace.com) **with your name and booking date** , as we don't always receive booking notifications.\n\n### Continuing After Your Introduction\n\nIf you enjoy the práctica and wish to continue, you can take out a monthly subscription.\n\n**£45 per month (£35 low-income concession)** — equivalent to £9–£11.25 per session.\n\nThe subscription helps us maintain a regular practice space. With limited numbers and costs close to break-even, relying on drop-in attendance would make the space difficult to sustain.\n\nThere is no obligation to subscribe after your introductory visit.\n\n### Venue\n\n**LA Studios** \n4 Boscawen Street, Upper Floors \nTruro, Cornwall TR1 2EL\n\n**The práctica takes place in the third-floor studio.**\n\n**Please arrive after 7:35 pm, ready for the 7:45 pm start.** There is limited waiting space. Use the entrance buzzer.\n\n**Barefoot Embrace — Argentine Tango & Brazilian Forró**", "mode": "community.lexicon.calendar.event#virtual", "name": "Truro Thursday Practica", "status": "community.lexicon.calendar.event#scheduled", "uris": [ { "$type": "community.lexicon.calendar.event#uri", "name": "Truro Thursday Practica", "uri": "https://dandelion.events/e/k33na" } ] }
