"description": "# Women's Story Circle - Habetrot\n\n**What if you didn't have to be all things to all people and be good at everything?**\n\nAs we enter the dark half of the year, this month's Women's Circle explores the archetype of the wise old woman through the English folk tale _Habetrot -_ the mysterious old spinster who comes to the aid of a young woman faced with an impossible spinning task.\n\nBeneath this curious and humorous tale lie questions about women's labour, inherited expectations, productivity, identity and the wisdom passed between generations.\n\nWhat roles and responsibilities have we inherited and been socialised/conditioned to take on?\n\nWhat is the cost to our wild self of always being a ‘good girl’, always being useful, capable and productive?\n\nWhat might become possible when we begin to question those expectations?\n\nThrough storytelling, embodied movement, creativity, rest, shared reflection and connection with other women, we'll explore how these themes appear in our own lives.\n\n \n\n**What to expect**\n\nIntention-setting with blackberry elixir and oracle cards\n\nAn engaging retelling of the Habetrot folktale\n\nEmbodied movement\n\nBreathwork\n\nCreative ritual \n\nJournal prompts\n\nSharing circle and meaningful conversation\n\nNSDR / Yoga Nidra \n\n \n\n**Who is it for?**\n\nWomen assigned female at birth who are curious about exploring their lives through story, embodiment and connection. \n\nYou don't need any experience of women's circles, yoga, meditation or folklore.\n\nThere's no expectation to share personal experiences or participate in anything that doesn't feel right for you.\n\nRestfed gatherings are trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, and are facilitated with safety, choice, consent and respect for individual needs at their heart.\n\nYou are welcome, exactly as you are.\n\n \n\n**When & where**\n\nSunday 22 November 2026\n\n10am–12.30pm\n\nSpring Bank Arts Centre, New Mills\n\n**Old stories. New conversations.**",
