"description": "Join us for a nourishing long weekend of movement, stillness, nature, community, and connection.\n\n(2 hours from London Paddington \\> Tiverton)\n\n**What to expect:**\n\nOver 3-4 days we’ll explore ancient body awareness practices designed to improve health, mobility, and connection to self and other. Our teacher will be Simon Carey-Morgan.\n\nWe will have daily Qi Gong sessions, cook and eat in community, relax by a woodland fire, surrounded by nature and with access to a sauna. \n \n\n**Who’s it for:** \n\nNo experience is needed, this retreat is for anyone curious about: \n\n- Embodiment, self-awareness, movement practices\n- Internal martial arts\n- Slowing down and tuning in\n- Being in community\n- Daoism/Buddhism\n- Chinese medicine\n\n**The practice: **\n\nLed by **Simon Carey-Morgan** , we’ll move through a variety of practices focused on softening, strengthening, finding peace and space within the body.\n\nWe will be exploring the fundamentals of ancient Daoist martial arts practices focused on cultivating your Qi (vital energy), natural breath, and aligning your body structure to improve both health and martial power:\n\n- **Nei Gong** is a Chinese term for \"internal skill\" focused on posture, softness with structure. This will be the primary focus on the retreat.\n- **Qi Gong** - We will be learning some forms which will stay with you for life.\n- **Tai Chi -** We will touch on the fundamentals, which will help you to pick up a Tai Chi form if you choose to practise in the future.\n- **Guided Meditation** : Will be incorporated after some practises or in the evening.\n- **Daoist & Buddhist teachings:** Will be lightly weaved in between the physical practice.\n\n**A word from Simon:**\n\n_“We will spend these few days exploring our experience in terms of how to open and relax, strengthen and enjoy, spending time with ourselves and each other in a beautiful place. Drawing on my own life experience and my great good fortune of teachings from the great tradition, we will learn how the body and the mind open into understanding and meditation. The path is simple yet profound and has grand successive distinctions along the way. We will discover how these junctures in consciousness are simply the cohesion of our body and mind in awareness. Over the years I have managed to simplify sometimes apparently complex practices, both physical and mental, into a program that consistently delivers peace of mind and strength of body. Understanding the framework presented in the Buddhist and Taoist traditions, we will explore together our path to peace. I really look forward to spending time with you. And wherever you find yourself in your practice, be reassured that the programme is open enough that you can find your own pace and depth.”_\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/02/20/51/40/11328c4d-db42-403c-a8ba-dbdd7ed6613c/eb8a5a33-099b-46ff-9756-a6dd929f6620.jpeg)\n\n**About the teacher:**\n\nSimon Carey-Morgan has been practicing Daoist arts for 40 years and is an experienced practitioners of Chinese medicine. \n\nHe has helped many people through acupuncture, craniosacral therapy and physical practices; connecting more fully to their own bodies.\n\nSimon's teaching is both serious and playful, attentive and open, with a deep knowledge of the practice and a humble, warm attitude.\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/07/30/10/00/44/478089a2-597b-4fea-96b2-90396c618439/Si cut.jpg)\n\n**The space:**\n\n![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXdjfOEX48JnD4HeYBBPOJhb-rgFIZ920wA1ZQNxxQzvjpQw9xWnn2nJ-tZYlgMkv9RmilNieqAkGJmFaFHanp03vnuG9X8XwTaqlef9ZO2BA1VT_lP2jSTk4mxBnrygOYf5n9hJxw?key=_K5fUXycmWW0J3FWi2F7JQ)\n\nThe retreat takes place on the beautiful [Selgars](https://www.selgars.org/)property, an idyllic space nestled in the Devon countryside (2 hours from London Paddington). It helps me land in my body, connect with my breath, recover from injury, and move towards a healthier life. I love going on retreats with teachers I resonate with. Si is one of those teachers, we did a small retreat in Spain a few year back and i came back with such a soft, floating body. So I've been planning to do another ever since.\n\n**Lody** :\n\nAs part of the organisation of this weekend I invite slowness, deep listening, and presence in the moment. My intention is to tune in: connect to the body’s wisdom, nature and community. I am a facilitator (relational leadership), intuitive coach as well as Joel's partner and will help running this event smoothly wherever I can.\n\n**Why are we doing this (Return to Centre)?**\n\nWe both experience the benefit of a healthy body mind connection. Bringing teachers and practices into community is what we' re excited about. We’ve enjoyed many retreats and co-created events over the years and the format that resonates with us is non profit, based in a beautiful space full of new learning and a sense of community.\n\n**Want to join?**\n\nSpots are limited to 20 (last year we were 18) as we don't want it too big. Get in touch with any questions.\n\n**Mailing list/Other events:** \n\nPlease email me and I’ll add you on.\n\nReturn to Centre WhatsApp group for other/future events: ‎Join my WhatsApp group. \n[https://chat.whatsapp.com/EZVUcgegSoUBW4CswjEsRs?s=qt&p=i&mlu=4&ilr=4](https://chat.whatsapp.com/EZVUcgegSoUBW4CswjEsRs?s=qt&p=i&mlu=4&ilr=4)\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/10/01/09/42/46/b3fa75ab-bee2-455f-8d40-2069adface1b/c9905e4b-722a-4696-936a-a8c87872383d.jpeg)",
