"description": "_ **The magic of meditation and the joy of movement combined** _\n\nThe format of the evening is very simple. We do an hour of group contemplation followed by about an hour of movement to an eclectic range of music.\n\n### Group Meditation\n\nGroup awareness practice is a powerful and direct way to experience the peaceful, expansive and vibrant qualities of awareness. It doesn't take years of practice. It's non-hierarchical and led by your own curiosity. \n\nIt's kind of like non-dual circling :) \n \nEveryone has the option to simply and briefly describes their present moment experience of awareness, or other qualities of being, and it becomes a co-created guided meditation.\n\nSomeone might notice that awareness is peaceful. Or ever-present. Unchanging. Containing all of experience. It might show up as loving, intimate, more real than anything. Sometimes there are no words. Any sense of self might merge or disappear - anyway, its powerful in a group and after about an hour, we play music. \n\n### Spontaneous Movement\n\nThis part isn't guided, except by the natural impulse of your living body, and a deliberately eclectic range of music. You might shake, stretch, lie still, dance. Just see what happens…. \n\nPersonally, I see if I can allow the meditation to continue as I dance. It seems to integrate it with normal life over the coming days. \n\nAlso, its a beautiful, spacious and peaceful venue with an inspiring library. \n\n### **About Non Duality**\n\nWhilst it might seem that we are separate from the world we observe, the nondual perspective is that you and the world aren't two different things. They are \"not two\". They are \"non-dual.\"\n\nBecause this is already true, it's not something that needs to be created or cultivated - simply noticed. The separation is an illusion that can be seen through. \n\n“You are awareness. Awareness is another name for you. Since you are awareness there is no need to attain or cultivate it. All that you have to do is to give up being aware of other things, that is of the not-Self. If one gives up being aware of them then pure awareness alone remains, and that is the Self.” \n\n- Ramana Maharshi\n\n### Feedback from previous offerings: \n\n_ **★★★★★ ** _“_ **The glimpses of what I experienced were revelatory. I felt very supported in the fellowship and in the experience and compassion showed by Amir. Thank you** _” - Erika\n\n_ **★★★★★ ** _“_ **Amir created such a friendly, open atmosphere and guided us to explore lots of fascinating states of mind. He also has a good balance between facilitating but not being too dominant; it felt like a shared journey. Lovely bunch of people and it was also nice seeing the same people every week. Can't wait for further courses like this** _.” - Alice\n\n_ **★★★★★ \"Hands down, one of the richest, most rewarding courses I've attended. Brilliant facilitation.\" Jen Allanson** _\n\n_ **I am so grateful to have come to these practices this way, and to have had the chance to begin learning them amongst and from such lovely and supportive people** _” - Melanie\n\n_ **★★★★★ ** _“_ **This was a beautiful, beautiful event. It was peaceful and liberating, although surely some people might have felt other emotions. I appreciated a lot the fact that aside from nice words and a space, we were actually taught techniques and discussed them. Amir is a wonderful presence. Recommended!” ** _- Giuseppe\n\n### Amir Giles\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2025/12/23/12/54/59/f0b5194c-81e4-409f-8788-555354b1b4b8/profile pic amir.jpg)\n\nAmir curates discussions and gatherings to explore fundamental aspects of life, awareness, and our experience of reality. The explorations are especially inspired by nondual traditions, the science of perception, and a variety of approaches to investigating who we are, from meditation to the Headless Way. He favors curiosity over conclusions, participation over preaching. \n\nHe initiated Adventures in Awareness in 2019, co-directed the Psychedelic Society from 2019 to 2025, is trained as a practitioner of **Internal Family System’s Therapy** , and runs Bernardo Kastrup’s weekly membership programme [With Reality in Mind](https://www.withrealityinmind.com/). He was a facilitator on The Finders Course, and has completed 2 years of an MA in Chiropractic. \n\nHe has a background in theatre and performance, having performed, [danced](https://vimeo.com/95222715), choreographed and directed on stage, television and [cinema ](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6230817/)with Paramount Pictures, MARVEL, the BBC, the [Royal Court](https://royalcourttheatre.com/cast/amir-giles/), Royal Opera House, Royal Academy of Music, Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, the [Royal Ballet ](https://arkivmusic.com/products/arthur-pitas-the-metamorphosis-royal-ballet-80549)and the Royal Albert Hall.\n\n## **The Venue**\n\n| \n\n[The Meditatio Centre](https://meditatiocentrelondon.org/) is a vibrant and welcoming oasis in the hub of London. It is open to people from all walks of life, from any religious, spiritual or secular tradition. It has regular meditation sessions and teaching on the practice and hosts an annual programme of events to explore the deeper dimensions of life. \n\nThey host events that look at the contemplative aspects of modern living: science, the arts, business, the environment, interfaith and the mystical core of Christianity. Workshops enliven the space – yoga, movement, poetry, dance – local artists are also invited to exhibit their work.\n\n | \n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2025/07/01/08/59/33/9346bcab-520d-4d93-97a7-57c11c61779c/church.jpg)\n |",
