A messenger of death. A guardian of the lost. A shadow at the edge of the road.\n\n**Saturday 31st October 2026** \n**1:30pm - 3:00pm** \n**On a Whim, 20 Cliff Terrace, Margate CT9 1RU**\n\n** £20**\n\nAcross storm-dark coastlines, lonely roads and ancient fields, stories have long been told of animals who arrive as messengers — omens of death, change, warning or remembrance.\n\nAmong them prowls **Black Shuck** , the legendary black hound of East Anglia. For some, his appearance is an omen of death. For others, he walks beside the lost, the grieving and the forgotten.\n\nBut Black Shuck is not the only one.\n\nMany of us carry half-remembered stories of animal omens, strange encounters, family superstitions, dreams and local legends — stories passed down through generations, whispered at night or recalled years later with the question:\n\n_Did that really happen?_\n\n**BLACK SHUCK** invites you into the shadowy space between folklore and real life to explore these stories together.\n\nThrough conversation, storytelling and art-making, we’ll wander through tales of animals, death, dying, ageing and memory, asking what these old stories might still have to tell us about being human and what it means to live well while we can.\n\nThis is not a workshop about having the right answers. It is a space for curiosity, imagination, reflection and shared stories.\n\n**Come with a tale, a memory, a superstition, a dream or simply come curious!**\n\n You can read [our ticket terms and conditions](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZSdrUX0V00eRRVd_brA3aKdIZYJ0307f5qk2icIuSdE/edit?tab=t.0) here. \n\n### MEET YOUR GUIDES\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/09/11/20/22/43/6ad91884-27f4-4936-8200-7e459230e8d4/b6f357d1-f67a-46ea-a734-d04a4864e90c.jpeg)\n\n### LUCY ST.
