"description": "## **VOICE DNA: COLLABORATION**\n\n \n\nWhat if your voice could become a portal to play, connection and creative freedom?\n\nVoice DNA is a guided journey into voice, not as performance, but as a way of exploring creativity, presence and connection. It is an invitation to soften the inner critic, awaken your playful instincts, and discover your voice as something alive, expressive and shared.\n\nAcross four monthly sessions, **Exploration, Collaboration, Transformation and Individuation** , we gradually deepen our relationship with our own voice and with one another. Each workshop explores a different stage of the journey and can be attended on its own, but together they create a rich progression, allowing both the group and each individual to grow over time.\n\nWhether you join us for a single session or the whole journey, you will be warmly welcomed exactly where you are.Your guide throughout the series is Uran Apak, an Istanbul-born, London-based artist, voice facilitator and co-founder of the UK Vocal Improv Festival.\n\n**No previous singing or improvisation experience is needed.** \n \n\n### **Collaboration**\n\n#### **Once we begin to trust our own voice, we can begin listening in a new way.**\n\nThis session explores what happens when voices meet: how we can express ourselves while remaining open, responsive and connected to others. Through collaborative improvisation we'll discover how individual voices can become part of something larger without losing their uniqueness.\n\n**Rather than trying to make the \"right\" music, we'll practise listening, responding and co-creating in the moment.**\n\n### **What to expect**\n\nWe'll explore:\n\n- Deep listening and sounding\n- Trusting your instincts while singing with others\n- Finding confidence in shared improvisation\n- Supporting and being supported within the group\n- Experiencing collective creativity through play\n\nThe session includes:\n\n- Gentle vocal warm-up\n- Breath and sounding practices\n- Vocal improvisation games\n- Voice and Movement Journey\n- Human Loops\n- Collaborative vocal improvisation techniques\n- Introduction to microphone skills\n- Loop Station Jam\n\nThis event is part of a four-part series:\n\n- [**Exploration:**](https://dandelion.events/e/a2pa4/) ** ** 25th Oct Sunday 3PM-5:30 PM\n- [**Collaboration: **](https://dandelion.events/e/x05na/ )22nd Nov Sunday 3PM-5:30 PM\n- [**Transformation:**]( https://dandelion.events/e/n6stq/) 13th Dec Sunday 3PM-5:30 PM\n- [**Individuation:**](https://dandelion.events/e/s69hk/) 17th Jan Sunday 3PM-5:30 PM\n\n### Venue\n\nOur venue for this journey will be Music Tree in Islington, London - a holistic music centre filled with natural light, just an 11-minute walk from Highbury and Islington Underground and Overground station.\n\n**Address:** 51 Barnsbury St, London, N1 1TP\n\n**Accessibility:** The main venue is at street level. The toilets are accessed via a short flight of stairs.\n\n### About Uran Apak\n\n![](https://r2.dandelion.events/2026/08/04/11/18/16/ff851ddb-b16c-4a9a-bd60-1766299d27be/712eb989-1e21-4762-ad36-2b6ffa8e17be.jpeg)\n\nUran Apak is an artist, performer, and voice facilitator working at the intersection of music, improvisation, and embodied practice. He is co-founder of the UK Vocal Improv Collective and part of the team behind the annual UK Vocal Improv Festival, one of the UK’s leading spaces for collaborative, improvised voice practice. Over the past decade, he has facilitated workshops, jams, and performances for hundreds of participants across the UK, creating spaces where voice becomes a tool for connection, play, and transformation. \n \n\nAlongside his facilitation work, Uran maintains an active artistic practice as a singer, composer, and live performer. His work spans solo releases, interdisciplinary collaborations, and performances at the Vortex Jazz Club, Southbank Centre, Roundhouse, Somerset House and Glastonbury Festival. His approach is shaped not only by music, but by ongoing explorations in movement, visual art, and somatic practices.\n\nAs a facilitator, he creates spaces that feel playful, creatively free and deeply held, blending vocal improvisation and community-based practice to support honest and curious exploration. \n \n**WEBSITE:** [www.uranapak.weebly.com](http://www.uranapak.weebly.com/) \n**INSTAGRAM:** [www.instagram.com/uranapak](http://www.instagram.com/uranapak) \n**SPOTIFY:** [https://open.spotify.com/artist/17urFPuCg9JZHhQIjLXjQh?si=yQ999-U\\_R6WtAFscbHVWEA](https://open.spotify.com/artist/17urFPuCg9JZHhQIjLXjQh?si=yQ999-U_R6WtAFscbHVWEA)",
